Meet the Tulp Fundraising People

Hedwich Tulp - Founder


Hedwich has worked (full-time) as a Resource development manager and fundraising officer at, amongst others, SANCCOB, Cape Mental Health, Peace Park Foundation and Catholic Welfare and Development. She founded TFS and has offered her fundraising and monitoring, and evaluation expertise (M&E) to various environmental and social justice NGOs (such as Equal Education, Resource Africa and Right2Know).

She obtained her Master of Science in Anthropology and Sociology of Non-Western Societies at Utrecht University, Netherlands, in 2004. She completed her MSc thesis in Female Entrepreneurship in the Cape Town Townships in 2004, and has been living in Cape Town since 2004. Apart from German, Dutch and English, she also speaks decent Afrikaans and has done a course in Xhosa. She is also fluent in the mediation and authentic diplomacy of Conscious Communication. She was recommended by Oak Foundation as a proposal writer to its grant-making beneficiaries.

Janet Wakelin


Janet has experience as an NPO management and fundraising consultant on various fundraising projects.

She worked for the Flower Valley Conservation Trust, the Southern African Wildlife College Trust (WWF South Africa) and worked full-time at Peace Parks Foundation.

She completed a degree in philosophy and biblical studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 1991.

Jodie de Heer


Jodie has worked in the Non-Profit sector in South Africa and Belgium, where she built a career centred on improving organisational effectiveness and impact. She obtained a Master's in Health Education and Health Promotion at Maastricht University, Netherlands, in 2001.

She worked for OLO-ROTONDE, a Belgium-based NPO, for 12 years, where she coordinated organisational change processes, and worked for Community Connections in Cape Town. As a freelancer, she facilitated and coordinated several entrepreneurship and leadership programmes for youth, youth in prison as well as female prisoners. She is trained in Non-Violent Communication (NVC) practices as mediation tools.
